On going North from Sydney to Cairns, she met and married Terry,
an equally talented artist who paints in a different style; a superior representational painter of
architectural precision, he exhibits mainly in Portugal.
In 1973 Elizabeth won the coveted “Australian Newspaper P.& 0.Ship
Co. Award” which prize was a 6 months’ all-expenses-paid European trip for two. She and Terry sailed on the
“Canberra”, returning on the “Oriana”
The following year, they returned to Portugal, a mere twenty
days before the Revolution in April 1974. Although Ireland beckoned many times, they continued to live
in Portugal for a further decade or more, painting successfully and exhibiting expansively at Galeria
E.C in Colares. Despite the frenetic workload demanded of them for these public shows, they managed to
open their own Gallery in Cairns called “Gallery One” which was a huge success to which the periodical
of its day attests: —
In 1992 a decision was made to visit Ireland. One year later
they decided to live here permanently.

When in November 1999, Magil Fine Art Gallery opened
its doors for business, seventeen of her paintings were sold within one week!
In less than a year her prices had almost trebled at an auction held in the Minerva Suite Ballsbridge, by Ian
Whyte of Whyte’s Auctioneers. Irish Independent’s Fine Arts Correspondent Ian Baird, (himself a
collector) rated her No 1 in his article of 25th November 2000.
Liz goes from strength to strength. She is now firmly established
throughout Ireland, Great Britain, U.S.A. and of course, Portugal and Australia.
